Dimension vs. Measure, Continuous vs. Discrete

This example will use only one field Year coming from excelsheet and we will show how it can be presented in Tableau.

In Tableau we can have fields as Dimensions and Measures, which means a field without an aggregation vs. a field with an aggregation. Each of them can be either Continuous (green tile) or Discrete (blue tile), which defines how the values will be displayed.

Continuous Dimension:T1.2

Discrete Dimension:T1.3

Continuous Measure:T1.4

Discrete Measure:T1.5

Usually a field like Year would be set as a Discrete Dimension and fields like e.g. Sales would be a Continuous Measure.
